In the wall drawing “A Cartography of Theft”, the Thomas Geiger visually traces the systematic looting of art carried out by the National Socialists. In the form of a sociogram, he places Salzburg and the Salzkammergut at the center of his research—regions that not only served as retreat areas for the Nazi elite but also functioned as nodes within extensive networks of dispossession. From here, lines of interconnection extend across Europe and reach into the present day.

Thomas Geiger aims to make visible how strongly the past continues to resonate in the present—in our social structures, in our perception of art, power, and memory. My works invite the audience to understand themselves as part of these interrelations and to reflect on their own position within them.
