İstanbul Simit Takası
The simit, Turkey's national dish, is also a symbol of the current econmic cirsis. The price has risen from 1 TL to 7.50 TL in recent years. Since the simit is available on every street corner, it is a ubiquitous visual indicator of the inflation.
For the Istanbul Simit Takası, I took over the simits of a bakery in Istanbul and offered them to passers-by for free. However, it was a barter deal, because in return people had to draw a simit on one of my Millionaire Sheets. These sheets are now on sale for 1 Eur + the current price of a simit in Istanbul (7.50 TL / 0,40 Eur).
